The Sr. Plant Accountant is an integral part of our U.S. Production Operations Management team. This role primarily supports the Plant Controller(s) with month-end closing, ad-hoc financial analyses, inventory control and SOX/Internal Control compliance. The primary customers that this role supports are the Plant Management team(s) and the SC&O FP&A team as well as other functions such as Corp. Accounting, Tax, etc.

Serve as the plant subject matter expert for inventory accounting and inventory controls, providing leadership and guidance to operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure inventory accuracy, proper material movement, and compliance with corporate policies.

Partner with supply chain, warehouse, production, and procurement teams to improve inventory management processes, material flow, and inventory visibility across the plant.

Analyze and investigate manufacturing variances, including material usage, labor, overhead, scrap, yield, and inventory-related variances, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

Prepare monthly close journal entries related to inventory, cost accounting, manufacturing operations, and plant activities while ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.

Perform balance sheet account reconciliations with a primary focus on inventory accounts, inventory reserves, work-in-process (WIP), inventory adjustments, and manufacturing accruals.

Monitor inventory transactions and material flows throughout the manufacturing process to ensure proper financial valuation, accurate system reporting, and compliance with company policies.

Coordinate, oversee, and analyze physical inventory counts, cycle count programs, and inventory audits, ensuring compliance with established inventory control procedures.

Monitor standard costs, bill of materials (BOMs), routing structures, and inventory valuation methodologies to ensure accurate product costing and financial reporting.

Respond timely to internal and external audit requests and support inventory-related audits by providing documentation, analysis, and control evidence.

Prepare quarterly and year-end inventory reporting, inventory reserve analyses, and other required corporate reporting packages.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory controls, inventory accuracy, material flow efficiency, transaction discipline, and manufacturing cost performance.

Lead or participate in special projects related to inventory management, warehouse operations, ERP system enhancements, cost accounting, and supply chain optimization.
Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience

Three to five years of accounting/finance experience

Experience with Plant Manufacturing and/or Warehouse Inventory control and flow

Comfortable in review and analysis of plant financial statements

Strong user of Microsoft Excel

Ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, self-starter, independent thinker, quick learner, excellent/pro-active communicator, and good team player.
Preferred Skills and Experience

Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) and/or advanced certification (e.g. CMA/CPA)
