Overview
An established, financially strong mid-sized law firm in the San Fernando Valley is seeking an Estate Planning Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of experience to join its growing practice.
The successful candidate will work directly with senior shareholders, handle sophisticated estate planning matters, and benefit from a merit-based path to shareholder status.

Responsibilities
- Draft trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and related estate planning documents.
- Manage trust and estate administration matters from inception through completion.
- Advise clients on estate, gift, and property tax planning strategies.
- Work closely with senior shareholders on complex estate planning and wealth transfer matters.
- Assist with the transition and management of existing client relationships from a retiring shareholder.
- Conduct legal research and prepare client correspondence, memoranda, and planning recommendations.
- Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas, including corporate and M&A matters where estate planning intersects with business transactions.
- Support business development efforts and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
QualificationsRequired
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
- 2–4 years of estate planning experience in a law firm environment.
- Experience with trust and estate administration.
- Experience advising clients on estate, gift, and/or property tax matters.
- Experience drafting trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related planning documents.
- Working knowledge of California estate, gift, and property tax laws.
- Exposure to corporate or M&A transactional matters.
- Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred
- LL.M. in Taxation (standalone or joint JD/LL.M.) preferred but not required.
Work Environment
- Full-time, in-office position located in Encino, California.
- Candidates must currently reside in Southern California.
- Limited remote work flexibility may be available after demonstrating success and integration with the team.
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
