Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to route schedules.
- Handle logistics cargo handling tasks including securing loads, inspecting cargo for damage, and ensuring proper documentation.
- Comply with hazardous materials regulations and safely transport dangerous goods when applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and coordinate maintenance or repairs to keep trucks in optimal condition.
- Route driving across various terrains while managing delivery schedules and customer expectations professionally.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including tractor-trailer operations with manual transmissions preferred.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed hauling, tankers, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods transportation.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance standards.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving load & unload procedures and logistics cargo handling.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and adjustments.
- Experience with different types of trucks such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety protocols during all phases of transportation and cargo handling.
