Senior Property Accountant with residential experience to their team. This organization is a very youthful, energetic company that regularly seeks out new investment opportunities.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$110k - $115k
Position Overview:
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions for assigned properties within the company's real estate residential portfolio. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies, and timely communication with property managers and senior leadership.
Responsibilities of the Senior Property Accountant:
- The Senior Property Accountant will assist with the setup and configuration of accounting processes, financial reporting, and property-level accounting workflows.
- Manage the migration and validation of historical accounting records from the existing third-party property management company.
- The Senior Property Accountant will maintain accurate accounting records for a portfolio of residential apartment buildings and condominium assets.
- Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and analyze property-level financial reporting, including operating statements, budgets, variance analysis, and owner reporting.
- The Senior Property Accountant will partner with the VP of Residential and internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes and reporting capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
- The Senior Property Accountant will troubleshoot system and accounting issues within Yardi and help optimize system functionality.
- Support ongoing improvements to residential accounting operations as the platform and team mature.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Property Accountant:
- 5+ years of experience in residential real estate accounting or property accounting.
- Strong hands-on experience with Yardi.
- Experience in accounting for residential apartment communities, multifamily assets, or condominium properties.
- Strong understanding of property-level accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Property Accountant:
- CPA or CPA in progress.
- Implementation experience is strongly preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
