Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, hospitals, or urgent care centers.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing, perform phlebotomy procedures, and manage sample documentation efficiently.
- Maintain electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring all medical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with privacy regulations.
- Support medical office management by scheduling appointments, managing patient intake processes, and handling medical records requests.
- Assist with medication administration under physician supervision and monitor patient responses during treatment.
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols related to anatomy knowledge, physiology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and pharmacology.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, coordinating follow-up care, and supporting diverse patient populations including geriatrics and inpatient cases.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a strong background in medical office support and clinical procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
- Experience working in specialized areas such as dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and efficiently; inpatient or OR experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care excellence; ability to handle medical documentation meticulously.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment that may include trauma center or Level I/II trauma experience.
