Illinois Auto Truck, Inc. is looking for a motivated Plant Manager who will oversee all daily production and manufacturing operations to ensure policies and procedures are followed. This includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times.
Responsibilities:
· Manage production and shipping areas to the priorities of safety, quality, and efficiency
· Manage warehouse activities (inventory storage and control, inventory transactions, order picking and staging) to optimize efficiency, quality/error reduction, space management
· Use key performance metrics to drive performance and improvements (e.g. efficiency, errors, safety incident rate, labor/job costs, on-time delivery, shipping cycle time, etc.)
· Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer requirements while optimizing labor, equipment utilization, and inventory levels
· Schedule production areas to optimize on-time delivery, inventory levels, and efficiency
· Manage and develop production supervisors, team leaders, and hourly employees through coaching, training, performance management, and succession planning
· Maintain up-to-date training records
· Actively observe safety behavior and make improvements and corrections
· Thoroughly investigate all safety incidents (in-plant first aid and higher severity level) and report on findings and corrective action plan to Management
· Assess machinery, methods, and tooling/fixtures for optimal quality and efficiency and partner with Engineering to implement improvements
· Partner with Purchasing and Customer Service department to support operational objectives and customer satisfaction
· Lead implementation and manage use of Planning & Scheduling module (MRP) to formalize production planning and materials replenishment activities into our ERP system
· Implement and manage productivity metrics for shipping and receiving areas
· Actively lead annual physical inventory process from pre-count to actual inventory count and reconciliation, with minimal inventory value change
· Oversee key reporting and transactions to ensure system and financial reporting accuracy, including but not limited to labor scanning, inventory counts, job order reconciliation, receivers, and shipments
· Analyze equipment performance and production capacity to identify gaps and recommend process, equipment, or layout modifications necessary to achieve production objectives.
Requirements:
· Must have 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing management role
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
· Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of machinery and equipment operation.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong supervisory and leadership skills
· Hands-on experience in managing maintenance, continuous improvement and capital projects, production planning/scheduling and related systems, quality control, and inventory management
· Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control techniques, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques
· Must be able to work in a team environment and have a positive attitude
· Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
· Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
· Must have good written and oral communication skills
