The Die Shop apprentice learns and progressively performs the duties of a Die Corrector, with the intent to transition into the
Die Corrector position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare dies for caustic.
- Sandblast dies after boil out.
- Pull dies as per shift schedules.
- Check die surfaces for nicks, washout, and breakage.
- Perform quality checks for new dies.
- Monitor nitride.
- Polish bearings and correct minor bearing defects.
- Managing caustic tanks and cleaning (titration).
- Learn the company die system in EPICS.
- Follow all safety requirements and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned / duties advance throughout four(4) years in the apprenticeship program.
Qualifications / Competencies / Knowledge / Skills
- Working knowledge of EPICS system.
- Working knowledge of extrusion process and press tooling.
- Professional communication skills.
- Ability to read layouts.
- Experience using basic tools.
- Experience with measurement tools.
- Can perform basic math functions.
- Detail oriented.
Working Environment
Exposure to a production environment which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and fluctuations in
temperature.
