Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist with meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
- Support the kitchen team with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment to ensure food safety and sanitation compliance
- Operate dishwashing machinery and hand-wash dishes to keep the kitchen stocked with clean utensils and cookware
- Follow food handling procedures diligently to uphold safety standards and prevent cross-contamination
- Assist with menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Support catering events and special functions by preparing food items and ensuring timely service
Skills
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with food handling protocols
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking techniques are highly valued
- Experience in restaurant or food service environments, including kitchen experience within the food industry or catering services
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to perform meal preparation efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward serving guests and supporting colleagues
- Basic understanding of menu planning, food presentation, and portion control
