Join the team at Sichuan House & Dumplings and help us create a warm, welcoming dining experience for every guest. As a Waiter/Waitress, you will be an important part of our front-of-house team, providing friendly and attentive service while introducing guests to our Sichuan-inspired dishes, dumplings, beverages, and specialties.
We are looking for energetic, dependable, and personable team members who enjoy working with people and thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment. You will have the opportunity to develop your hospitality skills while being part of a team dedicated to excellent food and exceptional service.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly, provide menus, and create a welcoming first impression.
- Explain menu items, including Sichuan specialties, dumplings, appetizers, entrées, and beverages.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using the restaurant’s POS system.
- Clearly communicate special requests, allergies, and dietary considerations to the kitchen team.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.
- Make thoughtful recommendations and suggest additional menu items or beverages when appropriate.
- Process cash and credit card transactions accurately while following proper cash-handling procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized dining areas by bussing and resetting tables promptly.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, hosts, managers, and other team members to ensure smooth service.
- Respond to guest questions and concerns professionally and work with management to resolve issues.
- Follow restaurant food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
- Assist with other front-of-house duties as needed to support the team during busy periods.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, food service, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- Comfortable learning and using a POS system.
- Knowledge of food safety and proper sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn about Sichuan cuisine and confidently explain menu items to guests.
- Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic.
- Previous serving experience is a plus, but enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
