Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team! Duties
- Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliation using financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems.
- Monitor aging reports to identify overdue accounts and initiate collection efforts through negotiation and professional communication.
- Perform detailed analysis of customer accounts utilizing Excel data analysis tools and formulas to identify discrepancies or trends.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls during all receivable activities.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing issues promptly and maintain positive client relationships.
- Process journal entries related to revenue recognition, account adjustments, and bad debt provisions with accuracy.
- Support month-end closing activities by preparing detailed account analysis reports and assisting with audit requests.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts receivable management within a corporate accounting or financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent ERP platforms.
- Familiarity with medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, or governmental accounting is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, data entry with 10-key typing skills, and use Excel formulas for data analysis.
- Experience working with financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, revenue cycle management, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with professional phone etiquette to handle collections effectively while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices or public accounting background is advantageous.
- Strong analysis skills for account analysis and account reconciliation tasks; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
