Position: ReStore Donation Ambassador/ Driver FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
As a ReStore Donations Ambassador/ Driver and an essential part of the ReStore team, your primary responsibilities include intake of merchandise from donors with excellent customer service, including driving box truck up to 26 ft. for donations pick up, maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient Donation Center for processing, working with and supporting volunteers, loading and unloading trucks from donation pickups, and working as a collective team for the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Stokes County. This includes ensuring all donors, customers, community partners and team members are receiving outstanding service and teamwork, safety and quality control on all donations is maintained, appropriate pricing and recycling procedures are followed, and complete merchandising of all product.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Driving box truck up to 26 ft. for donation pick ups.
- Provide superior service to all donors, customers, volunteers, community partners and team members. MUST be a team player.
- Promote and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Maintain an effective, positive, and communicative relationship with Affiliate management, staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners, and ReStore donors and customers.
- Provide direction and leadership with new team members and volunteers to ensure their training is comprehensive in proper production/pricing/merchandising according to set guidelines and standards.
- Screen all product for usability quality control according to set guidelines of acceptable donations or recyclable material (to maintain low cost of trash pickups and minimize the impact on the landfill).
- Guarantee safe and prompt loading or unloading of all donor merchandise.
- Maintain safe procedures in all areas.
- Represent Habitat in a positive manner with a comprehensive understanding of Stokes County Habitat for Humanity mission.
DUTIES:
- Clean, test, price and process donated merchandise.
- Openly communicate with and assist delivery team with picking up, loading and unloading trucks from donation pickups.
- Perform daily cleaning, straightening, and organizing of the donation center and outdoor sales lot to maintain an efficient, neat, and comfortable work and shopping environment for all staff, volunteers, and customers.
- Perform delivery driver duties as required and needed. Work with Affiliate team in scheduling and coordinating donation pickups.
- Possess the experience and skills necessary to drive, maneuver and safely operate any Non CDL 16’ to 26’ straight truck.
- Safely navigate from one pick up to another, complying with organization’s policy regarding safe and lawful driving standards at all times.
- Must have and maintain a current driver’s license.
- Driving records must meet the standards defined by Habitat Stokes policies and insurance carriers.
- Able to evaluate acceptable items for donation according to organization’s standards.
- Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with employees, donors, volunteers and the public.
- Ability to adhere to Habitat’s Code of Conduct policies and other policies.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Committed to Stokes County Habitat for Humanity's mission.
- Ability to safely move and lift 50 lbs. Job requires bending, kneeling, and reaching often in awkward or tiring positions. Bulk of the time will be spent standing, walking, and assisting customers.
- Attentive listening and respectful communication skills required. Additionally, experience working with people in a respectable manner to provide excellent service.
- Ability to safely climb in and out of the cabin and box of a box truck and safely use hand trucks.
- Ability to work 8 hours with considerable walking, lifting, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Enforcement of OSHA and other job safety requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check, drug screen and MVR / drivers license check
- Perform any other duties as assigned by ReStore management.
