Position Details
- Type: Part-time for the 2026-2027 school year (while school is in session, end of August - mid June)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:30-5:30 PM or 3:00-6:00 PM (11:30 AM-6:00 PM on 2 early dismissal days)
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, manage and support large groups of children during transitions in and out of the program.
- Plan and conduct daily enrichment activities, such as homework assistance, physical activities, arts and crafts, STEM projects, group work, and other activities as determined by the site supervisor.
- Design and teach a weekly “Club” focusing on a personal interest that the students share, subject to approval.
- Provide documented lesson plans for all activities and “Club” curriculum.
- Supervise and encourage pro-social behaviors in an after-school setting.
- Actively participate in the program’s incentive program.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, inclusive environment.
- Communicate consistently with supervisors and staff regarding any issues.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and training opportunities.
- Present a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Demonstrate initiative and teamwork.
- Required to attend and participate in employee trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High School Education, Associate's Degree (Related field: Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, the Arts) preferred but not required
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience working with children between the ages of 5 and 10 years in a camp, after-school, and/or classroom setting
- Preferred experience in working with children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, as well as children with special needs
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
- All prospective staff will be required to undergo background checks and be fingerprinted
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, walk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to run during play or in response to an emergency. Employees are frequently required to engage with children on the floor and at their eye level. Employees are frequently required to use their hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects, as well as reach. Vision abilities are required for the supervision of children.
