We are seeking a friendly and efficient *Barista* to join our vibrant café team. The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional customer service while preparing high-quality coffee and food items. This role offers an engaging environment where attention to detail, excellent communication, and a passion for the food and beverage industry are essential. The Barista will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, managing POS transactions, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained throughout their shift.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks using espresso machines and other equipment. This includes beer, wine, and cocktails.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, pastries, and other café offerings
- Operate POS systems including Toast POS for accurate order processing and credit/debit card handling
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests, taking orders, and addressing inquiries with professionalism
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including sanitizing work surfaces and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Manage cash register operations, including credit/debit card handling and end of shift closing
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during busy hours
- Follow food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures at all times
- Assist in training new team members on POS systems, customer service techniques, and food safety practices
Experience
- Prior experience as a Barista or in the food service or retail industry preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Familiarity with POS Toast is a plus
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in fast-paced environments
- Basic math skills for retail math calculations, and managing sales transactions
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures is desirable
- Experience in coffee preparation, serving beverages, and working with café equipment will be advantageous
Pay: $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
