The Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth is searching for a dynamic individual to join our team as Assistant Club Director for our Steil Club location! PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists the Club Director in the overall daily operations of the assigned Club location. Serves as the second leader of the Club, ensuring a safe, positive, and high-quality environment for members and staff. Supports program quality, staff supervision and coaching, facilities oversight, member behavior management, administrative functions, and day-to-day operations while acting on behalf of the Club Director when needed.
Key Roles
· Assist the Club Director in establishing and maintaining a Club environment that prepares youth for success and supports Youth Development Outcomes.
· Serve as the Club's number two leader and provide day-to-day operational leadership in the Director's absence.
· Provide guidance to Club members and serve as a positive role model.
· Work to support social and emotional learning throughout the Club.
· Ensure a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment by monitoring facilities, equipment, supplies, and program spaces.
· Exercise authority in addressing member behavior using a trauma-informed approach.
· Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Club-wide programs, services, and activities.
· Monitor attendance, program quality, and participation data and assist in preparing required reports.
· Assist with monitoring Club budgets, purchasing supplies, and maintaining inventory.
· Assist with ensuring compliance with organizational policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
· Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of staff.
· Assist in supporting volunteers and ensure they receive appropriate orientation and supervision.
· Build positive relationships with parents, schools, and community partners.
· Support member recruitment efforts, including school visits and community outreach.
· Maintain communication with administrative staff to support organizational goals.
· Assist with daily building cleanliness and facility appearance.
· Assist with Family Nights, organizational events.
· Participate in weekly staff meetings, organizational meetings, and trainings.
· May be required to drive an organizational vehicle.
· Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· Preferred Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
· Minimum three years of experience working with school-age youth.
· Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
· Knowledge of positive youth development and BGCA programming is preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to support staff, motivate youth, and manage challenging behaviors.
· Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
· Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality youth programs.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
· CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
· Valid State Driver's License.

The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office setting to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
