POSITION OVERVIEW: Rajant Health is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to own quality across our edge computing platform, cloud services, and web applications. This role combines hands-on manual testing with automation, quality strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure reliable, production-ready software.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll help define testing practices, improve automation coverage, and champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Manual testing is a core part of this role, but we're looking for someone who can go beyond test execution—someone who can define quality processes, improve test coverage, contribute to automation, and help ensure reliable production releases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own end-to-end QA activities for edge platform components and applications running in the cloud.
- Define testing strategy, test coverage, and quality risks together with engineering teams.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, checklists, and regression suites in a test case management system.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, acceptance criteria, Jira tickets, and test results.
- Execute functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing for Web UI, REST APIs, and backend services.
- Validate happy paths, boundary cases, negative scenarios, error handling, and system recovery flows.
- Identify, report, and track defects using Jira.
- File high-quality defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, environment details, logs, and supporting evidence.
- Participate in designing automation scenarios and improving automation coverage.
- Contribute to building and maintaining automated tests.
- Communicate closely with developers regarding issues, root causes, and product improvements.
- Support release validation and production readiness activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of professional QA, QC, or Automation QA experience supporting backend, platform, cloud, or web-based applications.
- Strong manual testing foundation with hands-on experience testing complex systems, backend services, distributed applications, including applications running in edge computing environments.
- Proven experience owning QA processes and quality activities throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test design techniques, risk analysis, defect management, and production release validation.
Testing & Automation
- Experience with test automation using Python, Pytest, Playwright and/or Selenium.
- Experience with API automation frameworks.
- Ability to identify automation opportunities and maintain reliable regression coverage.
Web & API Testing
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, cookies, sessions, and authentication flows.
- Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and browser developer tools.
Linux & Infrastructure
- Solid Linux user skills for testing and troubleshooting, including SSH, systemctl/journalctl, grep/tail, and reading and analyzing service logs.
- Practical understanding of containerized deployments.
- Experience with Docker.
Security & Identity Management
- Understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT tokens, token lifecycle validation, and authentication/authorization testing.
- Experience validating negative security scenarios.
Test Management & Documentation
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, and TestRail, Zephyr, Xray, or similar test management platforms.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, comprehensive test cases, and reproducible defect reports.
Database & Scripting
- Basic SQL knowledge for test data validation, including PostgreSQL, SELECT queries, simple JOINs, and data consistency checks.
- Basic scripting experience with Bash and Ansible.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience testing applications operating in intermittent edge networking environments, including network failures, latency simulation, connection recovery, and timeout scenarios.
- Experience with Keycloak, including creating users, assigning roles, validating RBAC permissions, testing administrator/operator access flows.
- Experience testing distributed applications and event-driven architectures.
- Experience testing IoT solutions or connected devices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, and continuous testing practices.
- Knowledge of performance, scalability, or reliability testing methodologies.
- Experience working in cloud-based environments.
CANDIDATE PROFILE: The ideal candidate combines strong manual testing expertise with a passion for automation and continuous improvement. You enjoy investigating complex systems, collaborating with software engineers, and building scalable quality processes that improve product reliability and customer experience. You're comfortable working across edge computing, cloud services, APIs, and web applications, and you take pride in delivering high-quality software that is ready for production.
