We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Behavioral Health Compliance Manager to oversee compliance monitoring, quality assurance initiatives, state outcome reporting, and accreditation readiness within a behavioral health organization. This role ensures clinical documentation, reporting processes, and program operations comply with state regulations, CARF standards, and evidence-based practices.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership, supervise Quality Assurance support staff, analyze compliance data, and drive continuous quality improvement across the organization.
Manage the organization's end-to-end NC TOPPS reporting process.
Track due dates for initial, update, and discharge interviews.
Provide routine compliance reminders to clinical teams.
Generate compliance reports and retrieve data from the NC TOPPS portal.
Monitor organizational performance against state compliance standards.
Analyze quality, safety, and performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate records to support regulatory reporting requirements.
Conduct quarterly fidelity reviews to assess implementation of Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs).
Perform clinical documentation and chart audits using approved fidelity tools and scoring criteria.
Support CARF accreditation readiness by organizing and maintaining compliance documentation.
Monitor Crisis Phone compliance to ensure adherence to state regulations and internal protocols.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance and service delivery.
Supervise and support Quality Assurance staff.
Assign, monitor, and review routine auditing activities.
Address documentation concerns identified during audits.
Partner with clinical leadership to resolve documentation deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
Maintain incident reporting systems and compliance tracking databases.
Recommend workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee medical records requests and Release of Information (ROI) processes.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational privacy policies.
Coordinate documentation requests for insurance payer audits.
Prepare records and reports for regulatory reviews and compliance activities.
Maintain confidentiality and security of protected health information.
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field.
Experience in healthcare compliance, quality management, behavioral health, or clinical operations.
Experience reviewing clinical documentation and conducting compliance audits.
Experience with NC TOPPS reporting or similar state reporting systems.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Microsoft Excel, and reporting tools.
Previous leadership or staff supervision experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of clinical documentation standards and regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with CARF accreditation standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Active North Carolina LCSW or LCMHC license.
Experience with CARF accreditation and survey preparation.
Experience conducting clinical audits, chart reviews, and fidelity monitoring.
Background in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or community-based healthcare.
Experience supervising Quality Assurance or Clinical Support staff.
