Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Material Handler / Driver to join our team. This position focuses heavily on managing stock, loading/unloading trucks, and transporting materials. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting goods to designated locations while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Director of Warehousing and Logistics
- Safely drive and operate a variety of commercial vehicles
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of items during transport to and from work locations and the warehouse.
- Follow designated routes and schedules while maintaining punctuality.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain vehicle in a safe and clean condition.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their orders as needed.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on the road.
- Cross-trained to assist in warehouse responsibilities as needed.
Skills
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
- Experience with forklift operation is a plus.
- Familiarity with route driving techniques and navigation systems.
- Ability to perform moving tasks efficiently, including loading and unloading cargo.
- Previous experience in bus driving or shuttle driving is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
