Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Dental Assistant to join our busy, well-established general dentistry practice in Santa Fe, NM. The Dental Assistant supports our dentists and clinical team by providing high-quality chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient, professional clinical operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist our dentists during a variety of general dentistry procedures, including restorative, preventive, and hygiene-related treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials prior to patient appointments.
- Greet patients, review medical histories, and ensure patient comfort throughout treatment.
- Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting duties, including suctioning, instrument transfer, and materials preparation.
- Clean, sterilize, and organize instruments and operatories following OSHA and infection control standards.
- Provide post-operative instructions and support patient education as directed by the dentist.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and assist with charting in the practice management system (Curve).
- Support overall clinic flow by working collaboratively with the front office and clinical team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant required.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols.
- Radiology certification required (per New Mexico regulations).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a busy practice.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
