CONSTRUCTION QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER (CQC) - MARINE CONSTRUCTION
R.E. Staite is a small business, heavy civil general engineering contractor, with its facilities located in San Diego, California. For over 80 years, R.E. Staite has specialized in marine and heavy construction, piers, wharfs, marinas, deep pile foundations, bridge construction and dredging, successfully completing projects along the western seaboard from Panama to Alaska. R.E. Staite performs a high percentage of projects with its own forces and specialty equipment.
R.E. Staite is seeking full-time Marine Construction Quality Control Manager (CQC) Marine Experience a plus
Responsibilities:
- Communicate regularly with the project manager and superintendent to provide quality control updates and advise of issues or problems that may affect progress
- Provide oversight of subcontractor submittals and the submittal register
- Monitor quality practices daily, along with ongoing inspections to minimize the need for corrections and punch-list items
- Provide direction to the project engineer and maintain priority on critical path items necessary to keep the project schedule
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance with respect to timeliness, efficiency, and quality
- Review deliveries for timeliness and accuracy, while verifying the delivered product is consistent with the approved submittal
- Complete daily reports involving inventory, ongoing and completed work items, weather conditions, quality and safety issues, and site visitors
- Create a punch-list for completion prior to the request for a Substantial Completion certificate and coordinate with the superintendent and subcontractors for completion of punch-list items
- Coordinate with project management to ensure all close-out documents are complete and submitted
Requirements:
- 5 years experience as a CQCM
- USACE CQM certification required w/experience on DoD/NAVFAC/USACE projects
- Engineering degree w/Professional Engineer license a significant plus
- 10 years experience in the construction industry, marine/waterfront experience a plus
- EM 385-40 preferred
- Must be able to read and understand plans and specification thoroughly
- Must be able to maintain good relationships with owners, ETs, CMs, and ACOs
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and verbal / written communication skills are required.
- Internet savvy with competence in Microsoft Office applications. Strong MS Excel proficiency. Willingness to learn new software systems. Knowledge of HCSS a plus.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license, pass a drug test, and be able to pass a federal background investigation
