Position Summary
Four Corners Marina is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Store Associate to work in the marina ship's store and provide exceptional service to marina guests, boaters, campers, and visitors. This role is responsible for operating the point-of-sale system, assisting customers with retail purchases, maintaining an organized and well-stocked store, and supporting the overall success of the marina's ship's store.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining accuracy in cash handling and inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Process customer purchases accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit card, and mobile payment transactions while maintaining an accurate cash drawer.
- Assist customers with locating merchandise and answering questions about marina products and services.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays while ensuring merchandise is clean, organized, and attractively presented.
- Receive and put away inventory deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when products need replenishment.
- Keep the store clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Verify identification for all alcohol and tobacco purchases in accordance with company policy and applicable state and federal laws.
- Follow Southern Marinas policies regarding responsible alcohol sales and age verification.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including balancing registers and securing the store.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Support marina events and promotions as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of marina amenities, fuel dock operations, boat slip services, and local attractions to assist guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous retail, cashier, hospitality, marina, convenience store, or customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate or learn POS systems and standard office equipment.
- Dependable with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts during the busy boating season.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Bend, reach, kneel, and stock merchandise throughout the store.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced retail environment within an active marina.
- Frequent interaction with customers, boaters, vendors, and fellow team members.
- Weekend, holiday, and peak-season availability is required.
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
