Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing procedures with precision and care.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their dental health.
- Operate and maintain dental equipment such as X-ray machines, digital imaging systems, and sterilization tools following infection prevention protocols.
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and workflow efficiency.
- Manage infection control measures by adhering to aseptic techniques and healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Review medical records and coordinate with the dental team to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR management is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs.
- Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is highly valued.
