Underground Utility Locator (Entry-Level to Senior)
Location: Must reside in Greene, Christian, Webster, or Stone County, Missouri.

Position Overview:
Ditch Biz Mapping & Locating Service Inc is hiring utility locators ranging from entry-level trainees to experienced industry professionals to support our operations in Southwest Missouri. This role specializes in accurately identifying and marking underground electric distribution and fiber optic facilities. We are looking for dependable people who take pride in doing quality work, communicating professionally, and working safely and independently in the field.
No industry experience is required for the right candidate. We provide comprehensive, paid training for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. If you are an experienced or senior-level locator with a background in electric or telecommunications/fiber locating, your starting pay will reflect your expertise.
Minimum Requirements
- Residence within Greene, Christian, Webster, or Stone County, MO.
- Valid driver’s license with a solid driving record.
- Able to pass a federal background check and a drug screen.
- Physically capable of walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Able to work in confined or limited-access areas when needed.
- Comfortable using a phone or tablet for photos, GPS, and ticket documentation.

- Able to manage time and routes efficiently
- Safety-minded and detail-oriented
- Experience in utility locating, construction, utilities, surveying, excavation, or telecom is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Locate and mark underground electric utilities and fiber optic cables using specialized electronic equipment.
- Read maps, prints, and locate tickets accurately to determine the path of underground utilities.
- Document work accurately using company systems, photos, and GPS.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, utilities, crews, and property owners.
- Maintain strict safety and damage-prevention standards.
- Handle complex, high-priority, or problem locates independently (for experienced/senior staff).
