Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Entry Level, Contract)

Position Summary
We are looking to hire an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer, recently graduated or up to two years into their career, who is detail-oriented and eager to grow in their ability to solve real product design problems. At Weaver Manufacturing, we design, engineer, and produce custom furniture and other equipment to meet our clients’ unique needs, with expertise in the hospitality and cruise furniture industry, security products, and consumer goods.
We are a small office in Flower Mound, TX serving large clients — which means you will gain fast, hands-on experience across multiple project domains including product design, drawing revisions, sourcing, prototyping, testing, and quality, working directly with our Engineering Manager and drafting team from day one.
This is a full-time contract position with the potential for long-term opportunity based on performance and business need.
Key Responsibilities
- Create new drawings and revise product designs according to customer requirements and Weaver design standards.
- Participate in and support project execution through research, sourcing, testing, and documentation.
- Review inspection reports to verify that outgoing production items match drawings and customer specifications.
- Assist with Design of Experiments (DoE), creating and performing tests on materials to help drive design decisions.
- Support engineering team with product development objectives through CAD modeling (Autodesk Fusion), 3D printing, rapid prototyping, assembly & validation.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, completed or expected within the next several months.
- 0–2 years of professional experience; new graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Proficient in CAD software (Autodesk Fusion, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn quickly and think creatively to help solve design issues.
- Understanding of the importance of design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Good verbal communication skills, including the ability to present.
- Good written communication skills and technical writing ability.
- Must be legally allowed to work in the USA.
Bonus Qualifications
- Practical experience with hand & benchtop tools through prior work or hobby (e.g., 3D printing, sewing or upholstery, woodworking, automotive, construction, metal fabrication).
- Internship or co-op experience in product design or manufacturing.
Work Environment
- Full-time position based in our Flower Mound, TX office.
- Work spans office, engineering workspace, and hands-on product and materials testing.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes, product development, and cross-functional project work.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
