This position will remain open until filled. Initial screening of applicants will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 and every two weeks thereafter.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Educational Interpreter plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and ensuring accessibility for students and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing. Responsibilities include participating in educational team meetings to develop and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), providing interpreting services to help students access the curriculum, and conveying all auditory, verbal, and environmental information during school activities. The interpreter will handle voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice translation, offer cued speech transliteration, and support communication during various school events, both during and outside school hours. Additionally, the role involves mentoring new interpreters, preparing for assignments, providing in-service education, and serving as a resource on sign language and cultural understanding. The interpreter also assists deaf or hard of hearing employees during professional activities and maintains confidentiality and professional ethical standards.
