We are seeking a skilled 3D Model Technician with hands-on experience in 3D printing and model fabrication. Dental industry experience is a plus, but it is not required — we will provide training in dental applications. The Technician will support our 3D printing operations, collaborating with our production and design teams, and ensuring the efficient functioning of our 3D printing lab equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of 3D printing technologies, experience with CAD software, and a keen eye for detail.
AMS Dental Technologies is a state-of-the-art dental milling center working with dental laboratories throughout the U.S. We leverage cutting-edge digital fabrication technology to deliver precision dental restorations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize Computer-aided Design (CAD) software to prepare and modify 3D models, ensuring accuracy and feasibility for printing.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers and related equipment to produce high-accuracy dental models and components
- Manage the full print workflow: file preparation, machine setup, post-processing, and quality inspection
- Perform post-processing steps including cleaning, curing, sanding, and finishing of printed models
- Monitor print quality and troubleshoot issues related to equipment, materials, or output
- Maintain accurate production logs, material inventory, and equipment maintenance records
- Conduct quality control checks on printed objects to verify adherence to specifications and standards.
- Manage inventory of 3D printing materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain cleanliness and organization within the 3D printing department, including equipment upkeep and workspace tidiness.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with 3D printers, such as software errors, filament jams, and print failures.
- Collaborate with dental lab and clinical teams to ensure models meet specification and turnaround requirements
- Stay informed about advancements in 3D printing technologies, materials, and techniques relevant to dental applications
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must meet the requirements listed below to be considered for this position; please note required items on your resume.
Required:
- Proven hands-on experience operating and maintaining 3D printers (FDM, SLA, DLP, or similar) Provide evidence in your resume or cover letter.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling or slicing software
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret digital design files and technical specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment and print failures
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously
Preferred:
- Experience as a dental technician or in a dental laboratory setting
- Familiarity with dental CAD/CAM software (e.g., 3Shape, exocad, or similar)
- Knowledge of dental model materials, including resins used in dental 3D printing
- Experience with milling equipment or other CNC fabrication technologies
