Position Overview
DC Soccer Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Program Development to lead and expand our specialty programming and tournament portfolio. This role is critical to the continued growth and innovation of the club, helping to deliver high-quality experiences for players and families while strengthening the club’s impact across the community.
The Director of Program Development will oversee the planning, execution, and strategic growth of specialty programs, camps, clinics, tournaments and sponsorships. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with a passion for soccer and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Tournament Oversight
- Oversee the club’s tournament portfolio, including planning, staffing logistics, sponsorships, execution, and post-event evaluation
- Identify opportunities to expand and elevate tournament offerings
- Develops the Embassy Cup into a national and international tournament
Ensure a high-quality experience for participating teams, coaches, and families
Program Development & Management
- Lead the design, implementation, and growth of specialty programs, including camps, clinics, and supplemental training opportunities
- Evaluate program performance and implement strategies to enhance quality, participation, and retention
- Collaborate with technical staff and leadership to ensure alignment with club philosophy and player development goals
Growth & Revenue Development
- Drive participation and revenue growth across programs and tournaments
- Identify and develop new program offerings to meet evolving community needs
- Support sponsorship development and partnership opportunities tied to events and programs
- Investigate Grant opportunities that serve the broader community
Operations & Collaboration
- Manage program budgets, scheduling, staffing, and logistics
- Work closely with internal departments including coaching, operations, marketing, and administration
- Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and program leads as needed
- Supervise and lead Program Manager, Program Administrator and Tournament Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a director- or manager-level role, preferably within soccer or youth sports organizations
- Strong background in program development, event management, and operations
- Experience in tournament planning and execution preferred
- Familiarity with sponsorship development and partnership management
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Passion for youth development and community engagement through sport
