Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Finish Blade Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty finish blades to shape and smooth surfaces during various construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure precise grading, leveling, and finishing of roads, parking lots, and other infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects while maintaining high safety standards and operational excellence.
Duties
- Operate finish blades and related heavy equipment such as graders, dozers, loaders, excavators, and water trucks to perform precise grading and surface finishing tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety regulations.
- Follow construction plans and specifications to achieve accurate grading levels and smooth surfaces for paving or other finishes.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other crew members to coordinate tasks efficiently.
- Utilize utility locating tools and techniques to identify underground utilities before excavation or grading activities commence.
- Adhere strictly to federal construction safety regulations, equipment safety procedures, and site safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with excavation, utility work, paving, and other construction activities as needed to support project completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as graders (including Caterpillar models), dozers, backhoes, loaders, excavators, dump trucks, water trucks, tankers, and horizontal drilling equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Construction site experience with a focus on grading, utility and site work, paving, excavation, and general construction operations.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety procedures is essential.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving is preferred.
- Skills in utility locating using specialized tools are a plus.
- Ability to read construction plans and interpret technical specifications accurately.
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with a proactive approach to safety and quality standards.
