Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing hotel operations during overnight hours, providing exceptional guest service, and performing daily accounting and reporting tasks. This role combines front desk responsibilities with financial auditing to ensure accurate records and a smooth transition between business days.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and complete check-in/check-out procedures.
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns in a professional manner.
- Process reservations, cancellations, and room assignments.
- Balance and reconcile daily financial transactions, including room charges, payments, and revenue reports.
- Run end-of-day reports and complete the night audit process.
- Verify accuracy of guest accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare financial summaries for management review.
- Maintain security and monitor hotel activity during overnight hours.
- Answer phone calls and assist guests with hotel information and services.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams regarding overnight issues.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or accounting experience preferred.
- Previous hotel front desk or customer service experience is an asset.
- Basic accounting, bookkeeping, or cash-handling skills.
- Strong computer proficiency, including hotel property management systems (PMS).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Availability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform overnight shifts and maintain alertness throughout the shift.
Typical Schedule
- Overnight shifts, typically between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM
