JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the standards of instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of college required; two years of college preferred.

Physical condition so as to be able to manage behavior/physically challenged students; must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Basic understanding of child growth and development.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information.

Current restraint program certification.

Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.

Implement student behavior plans.

Awareness of identified student health concerns, monitor/assist as appropriate in collaboration with teacher and nurse.

Toileting/personal care/hygiene, when necessary.
-
Awareness of student-assistance protocol.
-
Assist with collecting, maintaining, and organizing data and portfolios, and/or work samples of student(s).

Assist student(s) with organization of desk, homework, class work and materials.
-
When applicable, consult daily with teachers and other service providers.
-
Facilitate student(s) social interaction.

Other duties as assigned by the teacher or Principal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Include frequent standing, walking, stooping, climbing,
bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting
up to 50 pounds; and possible exposure to bacteria and
communicable diseases, depending on specific assignment.
