Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service and answering all phone inquiries with clarity and courtesy
- Manage patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow
- Verify patient insurance coverage, explain treatment plans, and collect payments or co-pays accurately
- Maintain and update patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies
- Review medical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies
- Process medical billing and collections efficiently using knowledge of health insurance procedures, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, Medicare, and Medicaid requirements
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, filing medical records, managing phone communication with patients and insurance providers, and performing 10-key typing with precision
Skills
- Proven experience in medical administrative support within a dental or healthcare setting with clinic experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; ability to navigate electronic health records confidently
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures including medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), Medicare guidelines, and health insurance processes
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated clerical experience including office management tasks like appointment scheduling, documentation review, and maintaining medical records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and correspondence; strong typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy
- Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA standards; ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
