We believe that summer camp should be crazy fun and we want our campers to let loose and have a blast! We are looking for the best teachers and counselors in the business to join our camp team - Camp Chilltown. We are currently looking for Counselors with experience in PreK and Upper Elementary Grades. Our counselors work hard because we play hard. Our camp is energetic and our goal is for the campers to have an awesome time with us. You set the happy, fast pace and keep the fun going all day long. You partner with our Counselor Specialists who run music classes, breakdancing, art, skateboarding, and other fun activities. We also take trips to the pool! You must love working with kids and have loads of energy and stamina. Counselors must demonstrate a willingness to jump into a skit or song or dance and not take yourself too seriously. You will be running activities with your group, keep them on schedule, and ensure they are safe and happy! You must be able to work Monday-Friday 7:30am-6pm.
Our Camp Counselors uphold the policies and philosophies of three little birds and Camp Chilltown to ensure that campers have the best possible experience in a safe and nurturing environment. Counselors give careful attention to the physical and emotional safety of each and every individual camper within a team, and to the overall development and formation of the group as a whole.
Responsibilities
Camp runs from June 22nd through August 21st. Responsible for the health, well-being and happiness of campers
- Partner with other group counselors to plan and implement the daily/weekly themed activities for both inside and outside for your team of campers. We are a highly creative and energetic camp and you must be able to plan to that.
- Respond to camper, family members and colleague needs
- Provide support, energy and camp spirit for campers, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers
- Promote healthy relationships among campers and counselors and ensure that no child is being left out
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
- Follow and uphold all health and safety precautions
- Actively supervise all campers at all times
- Keep Director informed of any situations related to camper behavior and actions taken
- Recognize and respond to teachable moments
- Know the procedures and your duties in the event of an emergency
- Demonstrate professionalism and accountability
- Take initiative to analyze and solve problems
- Treat others with courtesy and respect
- Maintain a high standard of ethics, integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work collaboratively on a high-functioning team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
- Ability to communicate clearly, maturely and compassionately with families in person and via Brightwheel, our online communication app
- Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm all day, every day, for the duration of the camp
- Provide excellent customer service to families by communicating with them on a daily basis about their camper’s experience
- Assist with daily set up and clean-up of camp
- Maintain records of attendance, daily schedules, and progress of campers during each session
- Attend all staff meetings as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Director

Qualifications
- 1 years previous professional experience with children ages 3 to 12 years old
- Camp Counselor experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Working towards their bachelor's or master's degrees in Early Education or Elementary Education preferred
- Reliable
- Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs
- Ability to supervise staff and campers
- Flexible, trustworthy, creative and positive; a leader who works well in teams, is performance-oriented, inspiring, energetic, organized, detail-oriented, communicative, fun-loving, and a good problem-solver
- Ability to meet the physical demands described above under Responsibilities
- Must be 18 years of age or older
