Key Responsibilities:
CNAs are responsible for giving residents personal care and assistance in performing activities of daily living. They must be able respond to resident requests, monitor resident condition and report special care needs or concerns to appropriate staff.
- To receive and complete resident care assignments and other activities timely and as assigned to the satisfaction of the resident and in accordance with facility policies.

To report to the supervisor immediately when observing any unusual or significant change(s) in the resident’s physical and/or behavioral condition.
- To display a pleasant, interested, and positive approach to residents, their family members, visitors, and co-workers.

To be a good listener and never argue with a resident, their family member, visitor, or co-worker.

Adherence to all resident right policies and procedures.

To be courteous at all times – introduce oneself by name and explain each procedure/task to the resident before starting the procedure/task.
- To sign out/in for all breaks on the facility form located at the nurses' station desk.

To correctly document in accordance with facility policy prior to end of shift and before clocking out.

To visually check each assigned resident at least every two hours, or more frequently if their condition requires, to assist in identifying care needs.

Correctly uses Standard and Transmission Precautions at all times

Helps to assure compliance with Kosher rules and regulations

Correctly follows all unit routines assigned by a supervisor

Secures and maintains resident safety devices as needed, i.e. fall prevention alarms, personal alarms, wheelchairs, walkers, bed rails

Assures the resident can always see and reach the call light/bell
-
Assures the residents’ confidentiality and privacy needs are satisfied and adheres to all HIPAA policies and procedures

Obtains accurate resident weights and vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure) as requested and reports all abnormal results immediately to the supervisor

Assures all resident rooms are clean, tidy, and free of trip/fall hazards

Uses principles of good body mechanics at all times

Makes unoccupied and occupied beds

Assures stained or damaged bed linen is not used

Correctly handles contaminated linen; assures contaminated linen is bagged at the point of contamination and is not placed on the floor

Properly bathes residents giving a complete tub, shower, or bed bath as assigned. Assures the resident is bathed in a comfortable water temperature thru-out the procedure
- Properly dresses and undresses the resident in clothing appropriate to the weather, planned activities, and the resident’s choice

Provides daily oral and hair care, shaving, and nail care assistance

Assures resident’s artificial teeth are placed in the resident’s mouth prior to the meal

Assures resident’s adaptive equipment (eyeglasses, hearing aides, etc.) is available and in use

Correctly transfers the residents in accordance with the CNA Assignment Sheet. Reports changes in residents’ transfer abilities to the Unit Manager.

Transports residents to meals, therapies, and other activities in a timely manner

Prepares residents for meals including toileting, hand washing, proper positioning, and covering the clothing with a clothing protector as needed

Assures residents have the use of assistive feeding devices at the beginning and thru-out the meal

Passes trays at mealtimes as assigned

Assures residents are given assistance with the meal, snacks, and fluids as needed
-
Encourages the resident to eat and drink, prepares the food and fluids, and feeds the resident as needed
-
Observes and correctly records food and fluid intakes and outputs in a timely manner
-
Passes fresh ice, water, and water pitchers in a timely manner
- Offers fluids at the end of each point of service

Assists the resident in toileting, incontinency needs, bowel and bladder retraining as needed
-
Provides preventative/restorative care to prevent pressure sores
-
Provides preventative/ restorative care to prevent contractures
CNA shift differentials:

$4.00/hr evening shift differential

$2.00/hr night shift differential

$2.00/hr weekend shift differential
