Municipal Inspection Partners is a Nashville-based community development and building code consulting company. We provide a multitude of services for public and private-sector entities which include building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical inspections, engineer’s letters, 3rd party building construction plan review, stormwater review, building permit expediting services, building code consulting and building code training.
We specialize in project assistance and permit expediting projects in Metro-Nashville and Davidson County with additional offices located in Chicago Illinois, Huntsville Alabama, and Naples Florida.

We have an immediate need for an experienced Plans Examiner. This remote, project based, part-time position will work our team to review construction plans and enforce compliance with local and state building codes mainly for projects in the areas we serve across the US.
The ideal applicant should have at least 3 years of experience in building plan review, inspection, or code enforcement. The qualified candidate must be ICC certified. If you are detail oriented, can work independently and are extremely organized, this may be the job for you!
JOB SUMMARY: The Plans Examiner is responsible for reviewing construction plans and enforcing compliance with local and state building codes. This position involves assessing residential, commercial, and industrial projects to ensure safety, structural integrity, and adherence to codes and ordinances.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
· Review building plans and permit applications to confirm compliance with local and state building codes
· Communicate code requirements clearly to architects, contractors, and property owners, providing guidance on necessary changes or adjustments
· Maintains accurate records of inspections, reviews, and enforcement actions
· Stays current on building codes and applying updates as necessary
· Collaborates with other inspectors, engineers, and enforcement officers to address complex code issues
· Other duties as assigned
SKILLS/ABILITLIES REQUIRED:
· Thorough understanding of local and state building codes
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurately reviewing plans and conducting inspections
· Excellent communication skills for clearly conveying code requirements and violations
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· High School or equivalent required
· Bachelor’s Degree related discipline, preferred.
· ICC (Internation Code Council) Certification as Building Code Plan Examiner / Reviewer, required
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in building plan review, inspection, or code enforcement
· ICC certification required
