About the Role
We are seeking a powerhouse Shop Foreman / Service Manager to lead our service department. This is a semi-working position. You aren’t just sitting in an office giving orders you are a hands-on leader who can manage a team of mechanics, coordinate with customers, and seamlessly jump onto the shop floor to weld, wire, or troubleshoot when needed to get the job done.
While we service basic utility and heavy-duty equipment haulers up to 40' tandem duals, a massive portion of our business is dedicated to complex repairs, high-end customizations, and finish-outs on enclosed cargo trailers, concession trailers, and premium race trailers. The ideal candidate must possess the delicate touch and technical precision required to work on high-end enclosed haulers without sacrificing structural integrity or clean aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
- Shop Leadership & Training: Manage, mentor, and teach our team of mechanics. Evaluate work quality, enforce safety standards, and keep the daily shop workflow moving efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Service Writing & Customer Service: Greet service customers face-to-face, diagnose trailer issues, take in units, write accurate service tickets, and communicate repair timelines clearly.
- Advanced Cargo & Race Trailer Customization: Lead and oversee high-level specialty projects. This includes aluminum skin replacement (reskinning), seamless exterior panel repair, and installing interior white metal/vinyl walls and ceilings.
- Custom Living & Workspace Finish-outs: Supervise and execute the installation of custom aluminum cabinetry, workspace benches, onboard toolboxes, and specialized cargo-restraint systems (E-Track/D-rings).
- Complex Electrical & Climate Control: Install and troubleshoot comprehensive 12V DC and 110V AC electrical systems, shore power hookups, transfer switches, generator enclosures/fuel lines, rooftop AC units, and mini-split climate systems.
- Fabrication, Plumbing & Utility: Execute custom welding (steel and aluminum), structural frame fabrication, concession trailer plumbing/water systems, and onboard pneumatic/air line installations.
- Inventory & Parts Coordination: Work closely with our Parts Manager to efficiently source, order, and track parts needed for active service jobs to prevent bay bottlenecks.
- Administrative Management: Utilize QuickBooks to manage service tickets, document completed work, and process customer billing efficiently. Keep the shop workspace meticulously clean and organized.
Requirements & Qualifications
We are looking for a true professional who takes pride in craftsmanship and can command the respect of a shop floor.
- Deep Trailer Knowledge: Comprehensive, hands-on experience servicing everything from light utility trailers to 40’ tandem dual haulers. You must essentially be able to perform or diagnose anything that can be done to a trailer.
- Enclosed Hauler Precision: Proven experience working on enclosed cargo, concession, or race trailers with an understanding of premium aesthetic finishes and aluminum metalwork.
- Advanced Technical Skill Set: Proven proficiency in welding/fabrication (steel and aluminum), sheet metal work, plumbing, structural repairs, and 110V/12V electrical systems.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing and developing a team of technicians, mechanics, or fabricators.
- Software & Computer Literacy: Strong working proficiency in QuickBooks and standard digital shop management/email tools with excellent organizational efficiency.
- Customer-First Attitude: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical repairs to clients clearly and professionally.
