Burke County Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our established, independently owned small-animal practice in Waynesboro, Georgia.
We are looking for someone who enjoys veterinary medicine, takes pride in doing a job well, and wants to be part of a professional, supportive team. We are a busy practice, but we also believe veterinary professionals should be able to have a life outside of work.
A schedule that's actually predictable
This is a four-day workweek, with a consistent weekday schedule:
7:45 AM–5:30 PM
Scheduled lunch from 12:00–1:00 PM
No regular weekends, overnights, or on-call shifts
And when we say we close at 5:30, we mean it—we typically leave at 5:30.
The position
Our technicians and assistants are an important part of patient care and work closely with our veterinarians throughout the day.
Depending on experience and licensure, responsibilities may include patient handling and restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, digital radiography, surgical preparation and monitoring, anesthesia, dental procedures and dental radiography, medication preparation, hospitalized patient care, client education, and assisting veterinarians with appointments and procedures.
We want someone who is comfortable staying engaged throughout the day. The right person notices when a patient needs attention, a room needs cleaning, supplies need restocking, or a teammate could use help—and steps in without needing to be asked.
Who we're looking for
Licensed Veterinary Technicians are strongly encouraged to apply, and we also welcome applications from experienced veterinary assistants with solid clinical skills.
We're particularly interested in someone who is:
- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable working in a busy clinical environment
- Kind and confident with animals
- Professional with clients
- Willing to learn and improve
- Able to communicate well with coworkers
- Team-oriented and willing to help wherever needed
- Mature, positive, and respectful in the workplace
Compensation & benefits
$16–$25/hour, depending on experience, skill level, and licensure.
Benefits for eligible employees include paid time off, health insurance contribution, scrub allowance, continuing education opportunities, and a significant 40% employee discount on veterinary care for your own pets.
Why Burke County Animal Hospital?
We are an independently owned hospital, not a corporate practice. Our veterinarians and staff know our clients, know their pets, and often care for multiple generations of animals within the same family.
Our hospital provides comprehensive general medicine, surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics with equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, in-house laboratory testing, and ultrasound.
We work hard during the day, but we also value efficiency, teamwork, and getting everyone home on time.
If you're looking for a veterinary position where you can use your skills, have a predictable schedule, and work with people who care about doing good medicine and doing their jobs well, we'd like to meet you.
Apply through Indeed with your resume. Licensed technicians should include current license information.
