Position Title: Part-Time Preschool Teacher Assistant (Morning), Effective September 2026
Reports to: Preschool Lead Teacher / Education director
Description: The Kenan Center is seeking a caring, passionate, and dedicated Part-Time Preschool Teacher Assistant to support our full-day preschool program during the morning hours. This position works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, child-centered, and is passionate about creating positive early learning experiences. This individual will help facilitate daily classroom routines, encourage social-emotional development, and support children’s growth through play-based, hands-on learning.
Benefits and pay range:

· $17.50 an hour
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Classroom Support
o Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
o Help prepare and organize learning materials, centers, and classroom spaces.
o Foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
o Collaborate with Lead Teacher to maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom, including assisting with cleaning, sanitizing, personal care needs, and other daily responsibilities.
· Student Support and Observation
o Provide consistent, patient, and compassionate support for all students.
o Help the Lead Teacher observe and track student behavior and development.
o Help children develop routines, self-help skills, and positive behaviors.
· Collaboration and Communication
o Welcome and interact positively with families during arrival.
o Support and assist the Lead Teacher in matters related to the classroom, curriculum, and students.
o Help maintain attendance, documentation, and records as directed.
· Community and School Engagement
o Support and participate in classroom and schoolwide events, including Parent breakfasts, monthly parent events, Open House, orientation, Phase in, Parent Conferences, presentations, and performances
· Cary out Additional Duties as Assigned by the ED
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Early childhood experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with children, families, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt thoughtfully to a variety of settings, needs, and learning styles
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of care, support, and professionalism
