OBJECTIVE:
Serves as a mentor teacher for early care and education staff members by providing training, coaching, and ongoing support for implementation of the PAX Behavior System.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field and 5 years of experience teaching or training early childhood professionals.
2. Available to work year-round.
3. Ability to travel independently throughout Bernalillo County and occasional overnights to Taos and Rio Arriba Counties.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
1. Familiarity with Head Start and New Mexico PreK.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Inclusive):
• Complete required PAX and PAX Coach trainings within two months of the hire date.
• Complete Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) training within three months of the hire date.
• Provide training and coaching to educators to implement the PAX Behavior System with fidelity, using Practice-Based Coaching methods.
• Support staff in developing effective classroom management strategies that promote positive learning environments.
• Model evidence-based practices that promote self-regulation and prosocial behavior in young children.
• Collect, track, and analyze PAX implementation data to monitor outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Use data findings to inform continuous improvement efforts across YDI’s center-based programs.
• Collaborate with program leadership to ensure implementation aligns with organizational goals, standards, and expectations.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is a professional position, which requires organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with Head Start employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality.
Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. Physical required at time of hire and may be required every five years. TB Test may be required. Travel may be required. Must submit valid driver’s license and proof of satisfactory car insurance under NM Motor Vehicle requirements

This is a professional position that requires the individual to consistently use and demonstrate sound judgement, early care and education recommended practices, and a commitment to supporting the mission of the YDI Early Childhood Education Division. The individual selected will not directly supervise staff; but will be responsible for supporting teachers to improve their teaching practices.
