- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
- Provide technical customer service.
- Developing Objectives and Strategies — Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Investigate system, equipment, or product failures.
- Direct the installation, operation, maintenance, or repair of semiconductor equipment, such as heating, vacuum, and RF power system or water systems.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Installation and Systems Integration
Plan and execute installation for LAM Research semiconductor wafer fabrication tools, including mechanical placement, leveling, chamber setup, facility utility interface checks, gas/vacuum/exhaust/cooling/power connections, and tool configuration.
- Engineering Analysis and Subsystem Evaluation
Evaluate mechanical, vacuum, thermal, pneumatic, gas delivery, robotic wafer-handling, RF/plasma, and chemical delivery subsystems to confirm conformance with OEM specifications, engineering drawings, safety requirements, and fab process requirements.
- Qualification, Testing, and Tool Release
Conduct installation qualification and acceptance testing, including leak checks, pressure/flow verification, wafer transfer calibration, temperature control validation, safety interlock checks, and final system readiness testing before tool release.
- Troubleshooting and Root-Cause Analysis
Investigate equipment failures, mechanical misalignment, vacuum instability, gas-flow irregularities, wafer handling errors, and installation-related abnormalities; diagnose root causes and recommend corrective engineering actions. BLS also identifies investigating equipment failures and recommending remedies as a typical mechanical engineering duty.
- Cross-Functional Coordination and Documentation
Coordinate with OEM teams, customer fab personnel, process engineers, facilities engineers, and internal LSP teams; prepare installation reports, qualification documentation, corrective action reports, and engineering change records.
