Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and prepare wallcoverings according to project specifications and blueprints
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming to ensure optimal adhesion
- Install wallcoverings using appropriate tools such as hand tools and power tools, ensuring seamless application
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to execute precise installations
- Use construction management techniques to coordinate with project teams and meet deadlines
- Perform quality inspections during and after installation to ensure high standards of craftsmanship
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, scaffolding, and hazardous materials
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating techniques
- Experience with various wallcovering materials including fabric, vinyl, plastering, stucco, and tile laying
- Skilled in using hand tools (e.g., knives, trowels), power tools (e.g., drills, saws), and heavy equipment as needed for preparation or installation
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and inspection practices
- Ability to operate equipment such as scaffolding or lifts safely on construction sites
- Familiarity with related trades like carpentry (trim carpentry), framing, drywall installation, caulking, restoration work, masonry, roofing, concrete finishing, welding, flooring installation, glass installation, cabinet installation, door hanging and general remodeling techniques
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow schematics accurately
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients and team members
