This position is responsible for technical design of new products to achieve the customer’s design expectations. The incumbent will also be responsible for tracking design changes on current programs, evaluating implementation feasibility, and releasing for production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for design through all customer development phases through production release.
Improve the design skills required to check design packages for fit, form, and function as well as GD&T skills (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
Coordinate release/sign-off process with engineering and makes sure that all activities are planned, executed and targets met for release according to project timing plan.
Support design reviews at appropriate stages of design development.
Participate in part design reviews and assure manufacturability of design; responsible for documenting the results of design review in the design history file.
Work with design and engineering team to negotiate customer criteria/content.
Interpret design information to establish a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project.
Ensure released data meets customer requirements/standards.
Ensures adherence to design standards/processes; perform all business activities with the highest ethical standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Overall automotive component design and development experience (such as headliner/overhead systems, door trim/soft trim, dash insulation and/or acoustics, preferred).
Data management skills; ability to adapt to design changes quickly (detail oriented).
Confident professional with ability to adapt to changes quickly (detail oriented).
Assists in establishing design completion dates by implementing a design process to achieve milestones.
Ability to identify potential issues and propose corrective action. Resolve technical design conflicts.
Knowledge of CATIA V5; CAD, 3D GD&T principles, part tolerance and data management.
English and Japanese business level communication skills a plus.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associates Degree or equivalent training & experience required.
5 years applied CATIA V5 experience / Computer Aided Design (surface, 3D, assembly part, drawing designs) required.
Experience developing product from concept to production release preferred.
