Overview
2-on-1 Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence and facilitating their daily activities. The DSP will work closely with clients to ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met in a compassionate and respectful manner.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide care for an individual with autism that occasionally has mild to moderate behaviors. The position requires working closely with a second (DSP) staff, and in cases where your colleague is unavailable, we will ask you to continue the routine independently if you feel comfortable and confident.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation.
- Assist clients with daily living skills at home and in the community.
- Observe and document client's progress, and any changes in daily activities .
- Engage clients in social activities and community involvement to promote socialization and integration.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to develop individualized care plans.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support and encouragement to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere.
Skills
- Strong background in ABA or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
- Experience in direct support roles with individuals with (ASD) or special needs is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach towards caregiving.
