Under the direction of the Director of Operations or designee, is responsible for the maintenance of all parks, beaches and their associated facilities as well as designated grassy areas located throughout the City. Supervises staff responsible for performing unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled park and facilities maintenance tasks including the operation of light and moderately heavy equipment. Performs other related duties.
Supervision Received: Under the general direction of the Director of Operations or designee.
Supervision Exercised: Supervises subordinate staff.
Graduation from high school and five years of operational experience and knowledge of methods and practices of the use, installation, maintenance and repair of parks and recreation equipment including lead or supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be trained in safety, OSHA and Haz-Mat recognition and handling. Possession of Connecticut Pesticide Applicator Certificate.
Possession of a valid drivers’ license.
Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) preferred.
Scope of the Exam:
The examination process will consist of two components, each weighted equally. The Training & Experience (T&E) evaluation (50%) will assess candidates’ relevant work history, and education. The written examination (50%) will evaluate candidates’ knowledge of operations, supervision, safety standards, and supervisory practices.
Final scores will be based on the combined results of both components.
