Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Install, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV surveillance, fiber optic cabling, network wiring (Cat5, Cat6), and telecommunication systems.
- Perform fiber splicing and cable management to ensure optimal connectivity and system performance.
- Use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and network analyzers to identify and resolve electrical or network issues.
- Conduct network installation tasks involving Ethernet cabling, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and VoIP systems to establish reliable communication networks.
- Read schematics and technical diagrams accurately to guide installation and repair procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on low voltage equipment within data centers, telephony systems (including Avaya), and electrical systems (AC/DC).
- Utilize power tools and hand tools safely for equipment installation, wiring, and repairs while adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Test radio frequency (RF) signals for telecommunication applications and perform LAN testing to verify network integrity.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician or Service Technician in telecommunications or data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN protocols, and network wiring standards.
- Hands-on experience with CCTV systems, fiber splicing, VoIP telephony (including Avaya), and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical wiring practices aligned with NEC standards.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and RF testers effectively.
- Proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, and cable management equipment for installation tasks.
- Electrical experience with AC/DC systems along with knowledge of low voltage wiring regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients at all levels of understanding.
- Valid certifications or training in fiber optics, network installation, or electrical systems are highly desirable.
