Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sushi Chef to join our renowned Japanese restaurant located in <1407 Broadway NY NY 10018>. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in culinary arts, specializing in sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine. Duties
- Prepare and craft high-quality sushi and sashimi according to traditional recipes and restaurant standards
- Design and plan menus that highlight fresh ingredients and innovative presentation
- Ensure all food preparation meets safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations
- Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining proper storage of ingredients
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to deliver exceptional dining experiences
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi bar and workstations
- Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques and food handling procedures
- Participate in catering events or special functions as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within Japanese cuisine or fine dining establishments
- Strong knowledge of food handling, safety protocols, and sanitation standards
- Excellent knife skills with precision in slicing fish and preparing ingredients
- Experience with menu planning, food preparation, and meal presentation
- Background in the food industry, including restaurant or catering experience
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Culinary certifications or training in Japanese cuisine is preferred but not required
- Prior experience with dietary department standards or dietary aide experience is a plus but not mandatory
