Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Preventionist Wound Care Nurse to lead our infection control and wound management initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in healthcare infection prevention, wound care, and patient safety protocols, with a strong background in nursing and public health. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention strategies, ensuring compliance with all relevant health regulations and standards. Your leadership will foster a culture of safety, quality improvement, and excellence in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies aligned with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and long-term care regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments and manage individualized care plans for patients with complex wounds or infectious diseases.
- Monitor patient observations to identify early signs of infection or complications, ensuring timely intervention.
- Oversee data collection and management related to infection rates, wound healing outcomes, and compliance metrics to support quality improvement initiatives.
- Educate healthcare staff on aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, disease prevention policies, and infection control regulations.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Lead team efforts in infection control audits, staff training sessions, and policy updates to maintain high standards of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and infectious disease care within healthcare settings.
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as hospital intensive care units or Level I/II trauma centers; assisted living or long-term care experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of long-term care regulations, CDC guidelines for disease prevention, OSHA standards, and healthcare infection prevention policies.
- Excellent data management skills with the ability to analyze trends and generate reports for quality assurance purposes.
- Leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams in acute or chronic care settings.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records review, documentation review processes, and health regulation policies.
- Ability to effectively monitor patient conditions while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in infection control practices.
