Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Travel Paramedic to join our dynamic emergency response team. Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to emergency calls across city streets and highways, operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently
- Provide advanced patient care including airway management, vital signs monitoring, and trauma assessment
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and evaluate patient condition to determine appropriate interventions
- Administer medications, injections, and other treatments following established protocols
- Manage critical care situations such as cardiovascular emergencies, trauma incidents, and neonatal resuscitation procedures
- Utilize medical equipment accurately, including DME (Durable Medical Equipment), monitors, and airway devices
- Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, medical teams, and incident command during emergencies
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during procedures to prevent infection
- Conduct patient assessments utilizing physiology knowledge and medical terminology to inform treatment decisions
- Navigate city streets efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and safety standards
Duties
The Travel Paramedic will be responsible for delivering high-quality emergency medical services in diverse environments. Specific duties include:
- Providing critical care transport for patients requiring specialized medical attention between facilities or during interfacility transfers
- Managing airway patency using advanced techniques such as intubation or suctioning in urgent scenarios
- Performing venipuncture for blood draws or medication administration as needed
- Monitoring vital signs continuously to detect changes in patient condition promptly
- Applying trauma medicine principles to stabilize patients with severe injuries or multisystem trauma
- Supporting pediatric emergency care with age-appropriate assessments and interventions
- Operating emergency vehicles with proficiency in driving under various conditions while maintaining safety protocols
- Assisting with incident command activities during large-scale emergencies or disasters
- Conducting physical examinations to identify injuries or medical issues requiring immediate attention
- Documenting all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records
Experience
Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive background in emergency medical services with the following qualifications:
- Critical care experience within hospital or pre-hospital settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred
- Extensive EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) experience with certification current and valid
- Proven success in patient transport involving complex cases such as cardiovascular emergencies or trauma incidents
- Familiarity with triage procedures and urgent care protocols in fast-paced environments
- Hands-on experience operating medical equipment used in critical care transport scenarios
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques essential for effective patient management
- Experience with neonatal resuscitation procedures and pediatric emergency care is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while managing equipment or assisting patients during transfers
- Strong understanding of emergency medicine principles including incident command systems
