We are currently looking for a Marine Canvas & Upholstery Shop Assistant / Apprentice to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced shop environment where you’ll support skilled marine upholstery and canvas technicians while learning a specialized trade.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Shop Assistant / Apprentice, you will help support our marine upholstery and canvas team with a variety of tasks, including:
- Prepping marine products, seats, cushions, and canvas assemblies for upholstery work
- Assisting upholsterers with removal and reinstallation of hardware and components
- Pulling staples, removing old fabric, foam, and trim materials
- Basic shop maintenance, cleaning, and organization
- Moving, handling, and staging materials and finished products
- Supporting canvas and upholstery installations as needed
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have basic working knowledge of boats and marine environments (e.g., understanding basic boat layout and terminology)
- Experience in marine, boatyard, detailing, automotive, construction, or general shop work is a plus
- Comfortable using basic hand tools and working with your hands
- Ability to lift and move heavy or bulky items (seats, cushions, frames, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn a skilled trade
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player with a strong work ethic
