Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up various machining equipment to produce precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications. Responsibilities
- Operate CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and manual machining tools to produce parts with precision and efficiency
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications accurately
- Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code, including CAM programming for complex parts
- Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and precision measurement devices
- Perform machine setup procedures, including fixture installation and tool alignment for optimal performance
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools to ensure parts meet GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards and specifications
- Maintain documentation of machining processes, inspection results, and machine maintenance logs
- Troubleshoot machining issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure consistent output
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools, hand tools, and machining equipment
Experience
- Proven experience in CNC programming (G-code/M-code) and manual machining techniques
- Strong understanding of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for interpreting mechanical blueprints
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines effectively
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to metal machining including milling, turning on CNC lathe machines, grinding, and boring operations
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret geometric tolerances (GD&T) for quality control purposes
- Experience with measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
- Mechanical knowledge related to machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and measurements in machining tasks
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining high attention to detail
