POSITION GOAL:
To provide professional support for improvement in the delivery and effectiveness of instruction in the designated curriculum specialty at assigned levels and student populations To help students meet or exceed learning goals and to master skills for continued schooling or work (from Florida Statutes, 1002.38)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principle duties and responsibilities of this position of Resource Teacher include an assigned combination of the following, depending on the specialty, administrative organization and district/ curriculum strategic plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO TEACHERS:
1. *Provide professional learning for teachers in schools in the following areas based upon the state legislated staff development protocols of planning, learning, implementing, and evaluation and assisting with district-identified professional learning initiatives.
- Use of district curriculum maps
- Effective instructional and assessment practices with appropriate grade levels to meet the unique needs of educationally disadvantaged students.
- Use of the district adopted specific content area series and supplemental materials
- Matching instructional materials to learner needs
- Use of technology as a tool to enhance curriculum
- Working with targeted students to motivate and accelerate learning
- Use of reading and writing strategies in preparation of state and district assessments the Statewide Science Test and District Interim Assessments
- Management of classroom activities and other resources
2. Create and deliver desirable model classroom lessons or any of the above by using technology as a tool for professional communication and presentations.
3. Train other teachers to improve skills in the teaching of specific content area techniques for accelerating the rate of learning for targeted students, effective assessment practices, and use of data to determine needs and monitor the progress.
4. Access and support professional learning needs as identified through school improvement planning.
5. Provide support to teachers in use of student achievement data for specific content area.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO STUDENTS:
6. Maintain current research-based resources to literacy instruction for educationally disadvantaged children.
- Use the data to plan specific interventions to accelerate learning for low performing students
- Monitor students with a variety of ongoing assessment
- Share progress reports of individual students with their classroom teachers individually or during grade level Professional Learning Communities.
7. Support and implement research-based strategies to meet the needs of the students.
8. Provide instruction and/or consultation for students in the classrooms during specific content area instruction.
9. Provide additional intervention in small groups for selected students beyond classroom specific content area instruction.
10. Use technology as a tool for professional communication and presentations. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
11. Participate in professional organizations and in-service opportunities to continually update knowledge base.
12. Expedite assigned duties with minimal supervision.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Instructional Services Administrators.
