GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Therapeutic Assistant - Shift Leader will be responsible for the distribution and supervision of duties assigned to the day, evening or overnight residential staff. These duties will include but are not limited to overseeing and monitoring the documentation of patient behavior, acting as a role model for the patients and residential staff, providing supervision for the patients and residential staff during activities of daily living, ensuring that all residential staff are responsible for patient safety, reinforcing individual treatment plans of each patient and upholding the Moody Neuropolicies. In addition, the Therapeutic Assistant - Shift Leader will ensure treatment plans for each patient and monitor the implementation of individual treatment plans for each client and monitor documentation done by the residential staff to assure that proper evening and weekend communication is maintained. The Therapeutic Assistant - Shift Leader (CMA) will uphold the mission, philosophy, purpose, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and client data and information in the performance of assigned duties.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide supervision and guidance to the weekend, day, evening, or overnight residential staff assigned to their shift or team.
- Assign specific shift duties to residential staff members based on patients' individual needs and programmatic requirements.
- Assign and supervise all residential staff in day, evening, or overnight activities of daily living to be implemented in the residential area and assist as needed.
- Assist the Residential Manager in identifying and providing necessary in-services for the residential staff.
- Assist the Residential Manager monthly in providing staff schedules for day, evenings, and night shifts.
- Direct and assist the residential staff and patients during emergency procedures for fire, evacuations, and medical emergency.
- Assist the Residential Manager in providing orientation for new patients.
- Document and report all significant incidents to the Director of Clinical Programs, Residential Manager and/or the Case Manager.
- Implementation of duties according to the policies and procedure of the Moody Neuro.
- Maintain contact and ensure the safety of Residential patients residing in the augmented or independent apartment setting.
- Provide accurate patient data on daily census report.
- Implementation of emergency procedures and prompt notification of appropriate on call personnel.
- Guide and assist the patients in accordance to their individual treatment plan.
- Enforce House Association rules during daily modules, evening, and nightly activities.
- Serve as a role model to the residential staff as well as the patients.
- Fully understand and be able to perform the duties of the Therapeutic Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant, and Program Aide when necessary due to scheduling conflicts or shortage of residential staff.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in charting seizure reports, ADL check lists, significant incident reports, progress notes and medication monitoring sheets.
- Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuroorganizational policy, CARF and other accrediting bodies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to organize and instruct residential staff in their performance of tasks
- Ability to follow through and/or implement the directions of the Director of Clinical Programs, Residential Manager and/or the Treatment Team.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

- Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.

- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Ability to assist clients with transfers in a wheelchair.
- Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
- Current/Valid Drivers License.
Education:
High School Diploma. Prefer bachelor's in health care or related field.
Hold either a Medical Assistantcertification or both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Aide licenses in the state of Texas.
Current Texas Driver's License
Must hold current CPR and First Aid Certifications - will be provided upon hire if not currently certified
Prevention and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) - will be provided upon hire
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' experience dealing with acquired brain injury or 60 hours of college.
